Baby Elephants Who Are Too Scared To Sleep, Find Peace When They Meet An Unlikely Friend

Sleeping like a baby may be our way to describe a deep and peaceful slumber, but if you’re an elephant baby living among humans it’s really hard to sleep like one, especially if you’re growing up without mom. Aya Mye and Mary are the orphaned babies who were brought into the Winga Baw Myanmar elephant camp after the poachers killed their mothers. They were too scared to fall asleep for weeks until one of the caretakers decided to do something no one had thought of to calm them down and let them now they’re safe… She sang to them.

The adorable calves were listening to Lek’s lullaby and you can see them starting to relax and let go as she continued her song. I couldn’t believe it, but they fell asleep at the same time. I just hope they know that not all humans are bad people. Lek may never be able to replace their moms but she sure did restore my faith in humanity. I’m praying for these adorable babies.
