Sophia is like any 6th grade girl and, as her mom likes to describe her, is “silly, adventurous, and headstrong.” However, Sophia is also autistic and selective mute, meaning she wasn’t able to speak in front of her teachers and peers, which made social interaction hard and stressful for her.
Luckily, recently there’s been a change in Sophia’s life, a change that made a huge difference. That change walks on 4 feet and her name is Rylee. Ever since the 4th grade, Rylee the therapy dog has been by Sophia side everywhere she goes. Whenever she feels overwhelmed and needs safety, she knows that her pup is right there by her. So you have a girl who wasn’t able to speak, now watch what happens when a reporter asks her a question.
