Heroes come in many shapes and forms, but no one can argue that Bretagne was a hero in every sense of the word.
Almost two dozen firefighters and members of Houston search dog community to bid farewell to the last known 9/11 search dog. Bretagne was one of 300 dogs deployed to search for survivors after the World Trade Center disaster but she continued to serve the country after hurricane Katrina and hurricane Rita.
On June 6th the ailing dog who would have turned 17 this August was euthanized in Fairfield Animal Hospital after suffering from kidney failure. She was honored with a hero’s send-off she deserved.
Rest in peace, beautiful angel, and thank you for everything
