In Japan, A Penguin With A Backpack Walks Alone To The Fish Market

Now here’s something you don’t see every day. In Shibushi City in Japan, there’s a king penguin named Lala who was rescued after he got trapped in a fishing line. He was brought back to the city and nursed back to health and ended up living with the family who saved him.

Lala is more like their tenant than their pet. He has his own air-conditioned room and he roams freely in the back yard, but what’s most interesting about him is that he goes shopping by himself. Equipped with a cute penguin backpack, Lala walks down the street to a fish market where he gets his lunch before calmly waddling back into his room.

I’ve never seen anything like this.
