The dog’s heart wrenching howls are what woke up Dylan Coqit this morning. When he got outside of his lakeside home in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley in Canada, out in the distance he saw a Border Collie who fell through the ice and was stranded in freezing water. Without even thinking and still in his pajamas Dylan tried to reach the dog using a weight as a makeshift ice-breaker. Unfortunately the progress was slow and the pup was near exhaustion, but that’s when his next door neighbor spotted him.
The two men remembered one of the neighbors owned a canoe, grabbed it and frantically paddled to the freezing doggy and not a moment too soon. The entire rescue mission was caught on video and just watching it makes me cold.
