San Francisco Wages War On Puppy Mills, Requires Pet Stores To Sell Rescue Animals Only

This is huge! San Francisco officials have banned pet stores from selling non-rescue dogs and cats. For years we have supported adoption of pet over buying, because pet stores used to sell mostly dogs that were bred to sold. However, this changes things. Now you can either adopt a dog or buy one that was rescued, either way you will provide a home to a very grateful animal.

Never buy dogs or cats from puppy mills, or from dog breeders. Sure, breeders take much better care of dogs than mills, but always consider adoption first. Well done San Francisco! We hope that others will follow suit.
