The whale is one of the most powerful creatures on the planet. But sometimes, even they get into dangerous and life-threatening situations.
During a low tide, rescue workers found a heartbreaking scene on the British Columbia coastline. They spotted an orca who was stranded upon the rocks. The orca had been swimming around the vicinity but didn’t manage to move on before the tide started going out.
The orca had been swimming around the vicinity but didn’t manage to move on before the tide started going out.
Situations like this can be a challenge. It’s virtually impossible to move a 5-tonne mammal by hand. Especially when the location where the orca was trapped is inaccessible to heavy machinery.
Luckily, the team hatched a plan, they immediately removed the shirts off their backs and soaked them with the sea water to try and keep the giant whale wet and cold.
The rescuers knew that their only option was to keep the whale wet until the tide came back in… In 8 hours.
Thankfully, after their 8-hour stint, the water started to resurface towards the orca, but would it be enough to get it back in the ocean?
