Tortoise Burnt In A Forest Fire Given A New 3D Printed, Hand Painted Shell

When the forest fire broke out in Brazil, this tortoise named Freddy had no chance to escape. Miraculously, he survived not only the fire, but also two cases of pneumonia and living without food for 45 days before he was rescued. When he was found Freddy had lost 85% of his shell, so the scientist had to find a way to make him safe again. The solution was 3D printing.

They designed and printed the hard case custom made for the little survivor, but the plain white façade was just not good enough. That’s when local artist volunteered to give Freddy much needed make-up.
