Can compassion be considered a crime? Is giving water to a thirsty animal on a scorching hot day punishable?
Toronto based animal activist Anita Krajnc is facing 6 months in prison and $5000 fine for offering water to a group of pigs back in July 2015. The animals were being transported to a slaughter house in a metal container on an extremely hot day. While they were gasping for air through tiny holes in a container, she gave a few sips of water from her bottle, but when the driver saw it, he completely lost it. She’s being charged with criminal mischief for interference with the “operation of property”.
